FROM THE EDITOR

The property news seems to be looking very positive, based on a number of articles from the field experts. The South African Reserve Bank's (SARB) monetary policy committee (MPC) on Thursday decided to leave the repo rate unchanged at 5.0 percent following its three-day meeting. Bank Governor Gill Marcus delivered the MPC statement in Pretoria.

The repo rate was expected to remain unchanged‚ according to a survey of ten leading economists by I-Net Bridge. None had forecast a cut.

The rate was cut by 50 basis points to 5.0 percent in July last year and was the lowest reading in almost 40 years. Read more of this interesting news in Stable interest rate welcomed amidst growing market confidence

It also seems as if most of the industry players are now focusing in Mauritius on the back of promising returns, a favourable tax and investment regime and business opportunities. More information about Maritius on Sanlam’s Africa property fund lists in Mauritius and Would you buy a property in Mauritius?

As much as investing in Maritius' Real estate seems interesting, back home in South Africa, companies are moving head offices to Kempton Park to take advantage of the Ekurhuleni metro's plan to develop a world-class aerotropolis around the OR Tambo International airport.
