Few weeks after Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan announced the 2014/2015 National Budget, Herold Gie Attorneys, a Cape Law firm that has about 120 years of legal expertise held an informative property and tax seminar at the Cape Town Hotel School attended by a number of property professionals from across the city. Read an article titled 2014/2015 Budget Speech - Impact on SA Property Market and Estate Agents to find out what the outcome was.

Public Protector Thuli Madonsela delivered her report on President Jacob Zuma's Nkandla residence, saying him and his family unduly benefited from the upgrades made by an estimated R246 million. If you missed the report yesterday, 19th March, catch up on the report in an article titled Public Works violated SA's Constitution on Nkandla says Madonsela.

You may also want to read the one titled A Taxing Problem In Procurement to see how the courts tackled the importance of tenderers complying with the tender rules laid down by organs of State.

Last but not least, as we always do, we take a look at one of South Africa's interesting cities. This week our focus is on Sandton. Did you know that, just about fifty years or so ago, before the exodus of South Africa’s well established businesses from the Johannesburg CBD to the Northern suburbs; Sandton was merely a grassy town of small holdings with sandy horse trails snaking all over the terrain?
