With South African media bombarded with negative News, this may come as a relief. The Monetary Policy Committee has decided to leave the prime interest rate unchanged at its current figure of 8.5%. Read article titled Interest rate announcement for more.

Although most home buyers are aware of other costs like transfer duties and lawyers fees when applying for a bond, they tend to forget a provision of municipal rates in their home purchasing budget, which may be problematic in a future.
